Yesterday (17th) we went into San Diego to get the hire car. The first one they gave us smelled terrible and had a wet seat so we made them change it. It's a black Ford Focus. We made a short detour to the Hotel Del in Coronado, so that I could see where they shot Some Like it Hot. We were going to stop and look around but the street parking was all on meters and the hotel parking was $15 an hour. So we did a u-turn in the hotel drive; I took some photos and then we took off back to Encinitas.
In the afternoon Dana took us round all the thrift shops in Ecinitas and we found some real bargains, particularly for Hap's Mum, Jane. The sun came out (havinng been fairly overcast all day) and we met with Chris, Hap's brother, after work and went for a pizza. That was pretty much it for yesterday. It doesn't sound like we did much but it was very tiring. Back in Encinitas we went online and booked our hotel for the next day in LA. Unfortuntely, Hap thought it was a day later than it really was and booked for the evening of the 19th. Luckily, we noticed in time and rang through and changed the booking to the right day.
